Carbaryl , also known as Sevin and 1-naphthyl methylcarbamate, is an insecticide with the chemical formula C12H11NO2 . It works as a cholinesterase inhibitor. Carbaryl is highly toxic to zooplankton and works on both targeted and beneficial insects. It is classified as a potential human carcinogen.
Carbaryl can be retained and analyzed using the Newcrom B stationary phase column. The analysis utilizes an isocratic method with a simple mobile phase consisting of water and acetonitrile (MeCN) with ammonium formate as a buffer. Detection is performed using UV.
