HPLC Separation of Vanilmandelic, Hydroxyindoleacetic, and Homovanillic Acids

Vanilmandelic, hydroxyindoleacetic and homovanillic acids are metabolites of various neurotransmitters that are used in urine tests to measure the levels of those neurotransmitters in the body. They can be baseline separated on a reverse-phase Primesep D HPLC column by varying the buffers and pH of the mobile phase consisting of water and acetonitrile (MeCN, ACN). UV detection at 230 nm.

The Newcrom columns are a family of reverse-phase-based columns. Newcrom A , AH , B , and BH are all mixed-mode columns with either positive or negative ion-pairing groups attached to either short (25 Å) or long (100 Å) ligand chains.
