· High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) Method for Analysis of Trimellitic anhydride
Trimellitic anhydride is a trifunctional, highly reactive aromatic anhydride with the chemical formula C 9 H 4 O 5 . It is used as a curing agent for epoxy and other resins; in vinyl plasticizers, paints, coatings, dyes, pigments and a wide variety of other manufactured products. It is a common precursor to plasticizers for polyvinyl chloride (PVC). In acidic water, Trimellitic Anhydride will ‘open up’ back into Trimellitic Acid . You can find detailed UV spectra of Trimellitic anhydride and information about its various lambda maxima by visiting the following link.
Trimellitic anhydride is analyzed using a Chromni stationary phase column under gradient conditions with a mobile phase composed of acetonitrile (MeCN) and water. Detection is performed by UV absorbance detection.
