Description

High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) Method for Analysis of Neostigmine methylsulfate , Norneostigmine .

Neostigmine methylsulfate is a drug with the chemical formula C 13 H 22 N 2 O 6 S . It is primarily used to reverse effects of non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agents after surgery. It works through inhibiting the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, preventing the breakdown of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which leads to a buildup of it at nerve endings, which stimulates muscle contractions.

Neostigmine methylsulfate , Norneostigmine can be retained and analyzed using the Primesep 100 stationary phase column. The analysis utilizes an isocratic method with a simple mobile phase consisting of water and acetonitrile (MeCN) with a sulfuric acid buffer. Detection is performed using UV.
