Description

· High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) Method for Analysis of Venlafaxine .

Venlafaxine serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) with the molecular formula C 17 H 27 NO 2 . It is used primarily as an antidepressant to treat major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder It is recommended as a fist line treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder. It works through blocking the transporter “reuptake” proteins for neurotransmitters affecting mood. It selectively inhibits the serotonin transporter and blocks the norepinephrine transporter. You can find detailed UV spectra of Venlafaxine and information about its various lambda maxima by visiting the following link.

This application describes a normal-phase chiral HPLC method for the separation of Venlafaxine enantiomers using SIELC’s Cyralis AM chiral column. Cyralis AM is an amylose-based chiral stationary phase (CSP) designed for enantiomeric separations, optical purity testing, chiral impurity analysis, and stereoisomer characterization in pharmaceutical, chemical, agrochemical, and fine chemical applications.

Venlafaxine can be retained and analyzed using the Cyralis AM stationary phase column. The analysis utilizes an isocratic method with a mobile phase consisting of Hexane, Ethanol, and DEA. Detection is performed using UV.
