Description

· High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) Method for Analysis of Mecoprop .

Mecoprop , also known as methylchlorophenoxypropionic acid and MCPP , is a popular herbicide with the chemical formula C 10 H 11 ClO 3 . It is primarily used to control broadleaf weeds and in combination with other chemically related herbicides including but not limited to 2,4-D, dicamba, and MCPA. It works through mimicking the plant hormone IAA to cause uncontrolled growth, which kills the weed. You can find detailed UV spectra of Mecoprop and information about its various lambda maxima by visiting the following link.

This application describes a normal-phase chiral HPLC method for the separation of Mecoprop enantiomers using SIELC’s Cyralis AM chiral column. Cyralis AM is an amylose-based chiral stationary phase (CSP) designed for enantiomeric separations, optical purity testing, chiral impurity analysis, and stereoisomer characterization in pharmaceutical, chemical, agrochemical, and fine chemical applications.

Mecoprop can be retained and analyzed using the Cyralis AM stationary phase column. The analysis utilizes an isocratic method with a mobile phase consisting of Hexane, IPA, and TFA. Detection is performed using UV.
