Angiotensin II is a peptide hormone with the chemical formula C 50 H 71 N 13 O 12 . It is said to exhibit endocrine, autocrine/paracrine, and intracrine functions. Within the proximal tubules of the kidney, it regulates water and Na + reabsorption. Synthetic version of the peptide is used to treat hypotension caused by distributive shock.
