Description

Dichlorvos is an insecticide used in household products, pet products and used in industry to protect food stores. Effective against caterpillars, aphids, spider mites, thripes and many types of flies. Dichlorvos is prevalent in many urban waterways and can be acutely and chronically toxic to humans. The EURL included dichlorvos as a target pesticide for the EUPT-CF9. Primesep B2 and Obelisc R were used to retain dichlorvos and separate it from impurities. Primesep B2 contains embedded basic ion-pairing groups while Obelisc R contains embedded ionic and hydrophobic groups which can assist in fine tuning separations. Method is LC/MS compatible and can be used with dozens of pesticides also as a general approach for analyzing dichlorvos and other organophosphate insecticides.
